Waiatoto River Safari Details

Duration

Our river safaris are a minimum of 2 hours duration, but please allow 3 hours from check-in to the end of the tour.

Mobility

This tour is suitable for most levels of fitness, including disabilities. If you have a specific mobility please contact us prior to arrival so we have options to assist you onto the boat.

Confirmation

All bookings must be paid to hold your seat. Payment is required 24 hours before your departure. When booking directly through this website, you will be asked to pay by credit card/debit card or Paypal. This means your place is instantly confirmed. If booking via phone or email, a secure payment link will be sent to you.

Deals

Senior special and and any other special stating to be booked directly, means the booking is done by the operator on your behalf. Bookings already made directly through the website are not subject to the refund of the difference of any special.

Pay for 3 bring 4 deal: The free fare is the lowest cost within the party, i.e., 2 adults and 2 children, the 2nd child travels for free.

Only one deal can be redeemed per tour.

Pet Minding services - by prior arrangement and koha (donation) appreciated. We encourage you to provide your pet’s bed, toys lead and we will look after them while you are on the boat. Our minding area includes a secure yard, shade, water and a large pet crate for security if we are called away.

Morning Tea

Morning tea is apricot scones which contain diary, gluten and sulphites as a preservative in the apricots. We do not cater outside of this so if you have an allergy we encourage you to bring a snack.

Package

The Craypot voucher is subject to the Craypot restaurant being open. If it is closed for any reason, a fresh pack lunch will be provided to you on your departure from the hotel to enjoy down at the iconic Jackson Bay.

The meal vouchers will be given to you at time of check in of the river tour.

Group BBQ

Minimum of 6 people for the group BBQ unless you purchase an exclusive tour.

The complimentary BBQ is designed to allow you to experience the local delicacies of this region. The food on offer is part of the commentary on the boat tour and is an extension of the whole experience of your visit with us, so we want to encourage you to be adventurous and try new and exciting things that you wouldn't otherwise see on your travels.

Please be aware that the menu items may contain allergens: sulphites, dairy, gluten, egg, and crustaceans, (marinade contains: soy, tomato, chilli, garlic). While we are unable to accommodate specific dietary requirements, we welcome guests to plan accordingly and bring their own food if necessary.

BBQ menu: Homemade venison sausages (GF), venison steak (marinated with soy, tomato, garlic, chilli), whitebait (cooked within egg), Crayfish (in season), local lettuce, beetroot (in season), bread with butter and condiments of mayonnaise and tomato sauce. Tea, coffee, milk, hot and cold water provided.

Check-in time

Clients must check-in 30 minutes prior to tour departure to allow time for a safety briefing and on-time departure. Check in is open from 10.30 to 10.50am, if you arrive after 10.50am, you are likely to miss the departure. You may check in prior to 10.30am or the day before.

NOTE: Our check-in time is strictly adhered to. If you arrive after the boat has departed, your fare is forfeited.

Amending your booking

If you need to amend your river safari booking for any reason, please let us know at least 24 hours prior to departure time and we will amend your booking to your preferred date, subject to seat availability.

Cancellation Policy

If you wish to cancel your river safari booking, please let us know at least 24 prior to your scheduled departure time. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice and “no shows” will be charged the full fare.  If you miss the boat you forfeit your fare, re-scheduling is by seat availability basis and there may be a fee. If you arrive to check in and then decide to cancel and we are unable to fill your seat, you will be charged 50% of your fare or if an arrangement is made, at the time with Ruth, a minimum admin charge of $97 will be applied to process your cancellation.

Please note all refunds are full refunds - minus the small fee which is charged by the bank.

COVID-19 UPDATE: We understand that some things are out of your control. That’s why we offer a full refund or electronic gift card for Covid-19-related cancellations.

Re-scheduling

Waiatoto River Safari has the right to re-schedule departures times if required.  The client will receive notification of this in advance. If the client misses the boat, there may be a re-scheduling charge.

Weather Conditions & Mobile coverage

We live in a rainforest and sometimes it rains here. We have a large windscreen and a removable roof that protects clients from the elements. You will experience the rainforest in its most pristine state and see even more, such as gushing waterfalls and amazing cloud formations.

Waiatoto River Safari staff reserve the right to cancel or re-schedule our safari if weather, road, river flow or any other conditions could affect client or company safety. If we cancel you will receive a full refund. Mobile coverage is patchy and limited so please allow enough time to drive to us.

Risk Information

Your guide will provide you with a pre-trip safety briefing, instructions and ongoing safety management.

Clients must follow the guide’s instructions and adhere to all safety requirements.
Jet boating and associated activities have inherent risks and can be dangerous.

Waiatoto River Safari cannot be held responsible for personal injury or for loss or damage of equipment.

Transport transfers are unavailable.

The information that we collect from you may be used by us for a number of purposes connected with our business such as:

  • Providing you with products and/or services you have requested.

  • Dealing with your requests, enquiries or complaints and other customer care related activities.

Google Analytics is used on our website to track information on how you use our products and services (such as your browsing activity when visiting our website).

This is used for general administrative purposes, to help us understand user need and to help us optimise the content on our website.

Facebook Pixels is implemented on our website for retargeted marketing purposes.
